Comedian Rocky LaPorte


A former truck driver and dock worker from the south side of Chicago, Rocky LaPorte has been doing stand-up comedy for the past 26 years. A store manager on his delivery route suggested he try comedy because he always made her laugh, and the rest is history.

LaPorte has appeared on NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” Showtime’s “Godfathers of Comedy,” A&E’s “Evening at the Improv,” VH1’s “Stand-Up Spotlight” and “The Very Funny Show,” and “Just for Laughs” on TBS. He had his own half-hour special on Comedy Central, and has opened for Louie Anderson, Garry Shandling, Drew Carey and Tim Allen. On the big screen, LaPorte can be seen with Allen in “Shaggy Dog” and “Crazy on the Outside,” which Allen also directed. He also appeared in “Patriot Act: A Jeffrey Ross Home Movie.”

His television credits include “Cheers,” “The Pat Sajak Show” and “The Magic Hour.” LaPorte is a father of four and grandfather of 10.
